Old South Carriage Company on Market Street
Market Street Charleston oil/canvas 12x24 (sold)

Market Street Charleston

Art has the ability to transport us to a different time and place. I enjoy traveling, and Charleston, SC is one of my favorite places to paint. The city is rich with history and interesting architecture.

When I'm there, I'm like a kid in a candy store. Everywhere you turn is a new scene waiting to be painted. It's also a great destination for viewing art, with some of the top galleries in the country.

In this painting I wanted to capture the feeling of the city: colorful architecture, people walking and taking carriage rides thru narrow streets. (The red sashes are worn by drivers with Old South Carriage Company.)

This painting won the Ada Shulz Memorial Award at the Indiana Heritage Arts Annual Exhibit.
